I took a break because I had too much to do before yom tov and then again post yom tov.
I apologize to any of you who were concerned due to my absence.
I went away for a bit and had no access to a computer and it is really difficult to post from my phone.
Shavuos was beautiful.
I must admit that I was dreading a long three day yom tov, because in the past it actually was dreadful. My husband would have free reign on tyranny, and he used it to its full potential.
He would find so many things that were not to his liking. It began with his displeasure regarding my daughters' new clothing, and it spilled over to all kinds of chumras that he enforced in our home. Shevuos was extra special because he had milchig and fleishig meals to lord over. Every year he changed his minhagim. If I wanted to cook milchigs the first night of yom tov, he decided that we had to have fleishigs and vice versa. I ended up hating cooking and serving, because i knew it was all about power and control. Holidays were miserable instead of full of joy the way they should be.
This Yom Tov however was fantastic. I invited lots of guests and everyone was chilled and relaxed.
The kids were happy and if they got bored in the middle of a meal they were allowed to leave the table and sit on the couch.
We enjoyed each others company, and our conversations were not limited to matan torah- which is boring for the kids, (and sometimes me too)
Will hopefully write more after Shabbos.
(Rosh Yeshiva harassing me :( )
